Consensys Facilitates Hollywood’s Decentralization Through a Partnership Between VillageDAO and Film.io
Film.io endeavors to establish blockchain-based communities that foster a closer connection between filmmakers and followers and the creative process.
The first partner to join VillageDAO, a smart contract infrastructure and service provider for Web3 communities, will be Film.io, a startup that democratizes the Hollywood studio system using crypto power. ConsenSys, the Ethereum developer, established VillageDAO in 2022.
In the present day, Ethereum has the capacity to unite a vast ecosystem, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) have the ability to ignite this community and drive a variety of projects and fundraising ideas.
Bryan Hertz, co-creator of Film.io, identifies the Hollywood studio system as a highly evolved series of gatekeeping intermediaries that consistently stifle storytelling and creativity. Consequently, the system is a clear target for some degree of decentralization.
In an interview, Hertz stated, “Film.io is a decentralized community that filmmakers can establish around their own film endeavor and truly determine their own course.” “They have the option to seek funding, distribution, and community support in the development of their project, whether it involves the enhancement of the concept or the recreating of assets such as movie posters or similar items, all in a decentralized manner.”
Hertz stated that he observes film projects with budgets ranging from $500,000 to $30 million or more from a Film.io perspective. He anticipates that this number will rise as additional studios join the platform.
According to Consensys managing director Dror Avieli, VillageDAO, which was incubated within Consensys in 2022 and is currently pursuing a self-sustaining existence, can provide a more effectively managed environment than platforms such as Discord for brands such as Film.io.
In an interview, Avieli stated, “Discord is a valuable instrument to a certain extent; however, it can rapidly devolve into a Wild West-like environment, characterized by a high degree of disorder and a variety of behaviors.” “We are committed to establishing an environment that is more conducive to community management and support, as well as one that is better equipped with improved technology, procedures, and funding.”
Film.io will have a specified white-label portal on the VillageDAO platform as its first official partner. VillageDAO platform: The Film.io Village. Film.io and VillageDAO are introducing a “Community Expert” certification program to commence the partnership. This program enables Film.io members to assist in enrolling new users and provide support to the existing community.
