Sony revealed the launch of the Soneium testnet, which is now accessible to all developers and creators, precisely one week following the Soneium blockchain’s debut.

Sony has implemented the test net, as indicated in its press release, subsequent to the introduction of its own blockchain, Soneium, on August 23. The name of the testnet is ‘Soneium Minato’, as indicated in the announcement.

“We have released Soneium Minato, a testnet that functions as a public blockchain that is accessible to all developers and creators who are interested in building applications, as a first step toward realizing this vision,” Sony stated.

Sony has also disclosed the specifics of its Soneium Spark Incubation incubation program, in addition to the testnet.

Soneium Minato is a public blockchain testnet that Sony has announced is accessible to all developers and creators who are interested in developing applications. Anyone can access and experience these applications, as the testnet is open.

Sony disclosed that Soneium Minato implements test crypto assets, which facilitates the utilization of these web3 applications without risk. Sony, Sony Music, Sony Pictures, Sony Global Education, Sony Innovation Fund, and Inzone are collaborating to establish the Soneium Spark Incubation program.

Soneium has collaborated with a variety of companies, including Pyth Network, Alchemy Pay, Privy, Rair, Reservoir, Sentio, Sequence, and others, to develop the Soneium blockchain applications.

Soneium has announced an investment of up to $100,000 per team as part of the launch of its testnet and incubation program.

Singapore-based Startale Labs collaborated with Soneium to introduce the product. Furthermore, Sony collaborated with Chainlink, Alchemy, Astar Network, The Graph, and Circle to develop the blockchain’s infrastructure.

Sota Watanabe, CEO of Startale Labs, disclosed that the Soneium blockchain is subject to a three-phase strategy during its initial release announcement.

Last week, Sony announced that Astar Network would integrate its infrastructure and assets with the Soneium after the testnet launch. Sony is reinforcing its web3 vision with this launch. Sony acquired Whalefin, a cryptocurrency exchange, in August 2023. Whalefin was subsequently rebranded as S.BLOX. It is anticipated that S.BLOX will be released in the near future; however, the precise dates have not yet been disclosed.
