The Wormhole communication protocol has been added to the Solana (SOL) blockchain, which means that World ID, the identification service driven by the Worldcoin Orb, is now live.
This development enables Solana developers to join the increasing number of creators who have already integrated World ID into their applications and platforms.
Only Ethereum developers had direct access to World ID’s verification system in the past, despite the fact that it was technically feasible to implement World ID on other blockchains. Solana has become the second blockchain to effortlessly authenticate World IDs as a result of this new integration, which enables developers to develop user-centric applications that operate across the network.
Robinson Burkey, co-founder of the Wormhole Foundation, underscored the importance of this stage, noting that the integration of World ID and Wormhole Queries enables developers to construct more dependable decentralized applications by authenticating users across various channels.
This advancement is occurring in the context of regulatory scrutiny for the organization that developed the orb verification technology. Gan Kim Yong, the Chair of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, recently disclosed that an investigation into Worldcoin is underway.
The Payment Services Act of 2019 may have been violated by seven individuals who were suspected of engaging in illicit activities related to the purchase and sale of Worldcoin accounts and tokens. Furthermore, MAS clarified that Worldcoin is not recognized as a certified payment service provider under the act.
Consequently, Singaporean consumers were advised to exercise caution in order to prevent the compromise of their World IDs.
