Arkham’s Exchange Won’t Allow Off-Chain Intel Trading Due to “Dox-To-Earn” Issues

Tuesday’s press statement addresses community criticism that has labelled Arkham’s new offering a “dox-to-earn” scheme.

Despite rumours that its new platform allows for doxxing wallet owners, Arkham Intel Exchange will not facilitate exchanging off-chain information, the blockchain intelligence company announced on Tuesday.

Arkham has introduced the Intel Exchange, a platform that will enable “talented on-chain sleuths” to be compensated for their contributions to the blockchain and the monetization of its data. Information requesters may post “bounties” on the site in exchange for a payment, and “sleuths” can then “claim” these bounties to fulfil their requests for information.

On the other side, users or investigators who possess valuable blockchain information may sell it for a buy-it-now price or via auctions.

Many people in the crypto world were concerned that the tool may be used to dox wallet owners and sell sensitive information, therefore the news was welcomed with controversy and alarm. Sceptics also saw that consumers’ email addresses were exposed via referral links they established.

On Tuesday, Arkham posted a frequently asked questions (FAQ) document to counteract “inaccurate reporting, doctored images, and other misinformation” regarding the Intel Exchange’s impending debut next week. A “dox-to-earn” model where users sell personal information is disputed by the firm, which says their platform is exclusively for exchanging on-chain analysis and labelling.

Personal information like email addresses and phone numbers cannot be traded off-chain on the Intel Exchange. The exchange will not permit any messages that request or provide such information.

After speculation that it had connections to the CIA and the FBI, the business officially refuted such rumours. Arkham also emphasised that it would never sell user information. According to today’s frequently asked questions page, “neither user private labels, imported addresses, or any other user data enhance information on the platform.”
