David Schwartz greets Elon Musk with his iconic “420 Tesla” tweet after the entrepreneur defeats the SEC.
In a recent tweet, the chief technical officer of Ripple Labs, who has been fairly active on Twitter on matters other than crypto, seems to congratulate Elon Musk.
The jury found the tech entrepreneur not guilty in the SEC lawsuit brought against Musk in 2018 over his “420” Tesla tweet.
However, instead of Tesla, the Ripple CTO tweets about XRP. Schwartz cautions that this tweet is a parody, just in case.
According to the WSJ, a jury found tech billionaire Elon Musk not guilty of breaking federal securities law. In 2018, the SEC filed charges against the billionaire after he tweeted that he had secured money to take Tesla private for $420 per share.
Musk went to his newly acquired Twitter account to express his gratitude to the jury that defended him, writing, “Thank God, the wisdom of the people has overcome!”
Many followers of Tesla’s CEO on Twitter expressed their congratulations in the tweet’s comments. David Schwartz from Ripple tweeted his own sarcastic congratulations to Elon Musk “I’m taking XRP private at $420. Funding obtained.”
Notably, both Ripple and Elon Musk have been targets of the United States securities regulator. The government filed a complaint against the San Francisco-based fintech company in December 2020, claiming it and its co-founder and CEO of generating billions of dollars by selling XRP to institutional investors as an unregistered security.
Now that Elon Musk has been declared not guilty by the SEC, the crypto community anticipates that Ripple will also defeat the securities regulator in court this year.
