This Sunday, Snoop Dogg and Eminem are going to perform “From the D to the LBC” in a “unique” Bored Ape Yacht Club-inspired performance on MTV.
Eminem and Snoop Dogg are scheduled to perform a live Otherside-themed act at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The performance, described as “unique” in the press release, is being created in collaboration with Yuga Labs. The stage is intended to be altered to match the metaverse style and NFTs of the design firm. According to the statement, this will be the first award event to include a performance inspired by the metaverse.
Yuga Labs, the firm behind the famed Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, developed the Otherside metaverse. In April 2021, celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Jimmy Fallon, and Justin Bieber joined the initiative. In May, their price peaked at over $435,000; the lowest items in the collection are presently trading on OpenSea for 77 ETH (approximately $130,900).
Snoop Dogg and Eminem, who purchased their own Bored Apes at the beginning of the year, will perform “From The D 2 The LBC,” their June-released rap duet that is nominated for Best Hip Hop. The music video prominently displays animation with a BAYC motif and now has over 46 million views.
Mutant Apes, Otherdeeds land plots, and ApeCoin, the money that acts as the ecosystem’s utility and governance token, are further elements of the Otherside metaverse. A game for the Otherside is also in development, as is a trilogy of short films themed on Bored Apes. Gucci just announced that some locations in the United States would now accept ApeCoin payments.
