He wants to build a currency, not testnet tools, using ore, and Hardhat Chad made it clear that he isn’t asking the foundation for money.
The anonymous developer behind the Ore project, known only as Hardhat Chad, has proposed that the Solana Foundation consider offering an incentive to encourage participation in the testnet.
This recommendation follows a week of congestion problems on the Solana network, during which 75% of transactions failed.
According to a post by Hardhat Chad on the X social network, the Solana Foundation could provide SOL tokens as an incentive for users to take part in testnet activities, such as evaluating new features or protocols, on the Solana blockchain platform.
With this reward in place, users may be more inclined to test the platform thoroughly before releasing it to the mainnet, which in turn improves its performance and helps find any problems.
When Hardhat Chad came up with his idea, the community had mixed feelings. While some were in favour of it, others were against it. A user named TheSoftwareJedi objected and suggested that Chad show the foundation his goodwill by concentrating on completing his project first.
The user highlighted the need to maintain autonomy through foundation incentives while suggesting that Hardhat Chad seek financing via a grant from the foundation.
Hardhat Chad, nevertheless, made it clear that he is not requesting any donations from the organisation. Establishing a currency is his primary objective with Ore, not developing testnet tools. He is rethinking the motivations behind anti-spam efforts and is casting doubt on the need to make testnet spam bots a top priority.
This suggestion is in response to Hardhat Chad’s social media announcement that the Solana network and Ore’s stakeholders must immediately cease mining activities. In light of the current network issues, Hardhat Chad stressed the necessity of a redesigned smart contract system.
This strategic decision is in line with the project’s plan for creating Ore v2, which focuses on ensuring the project’s viability in the future.
Ore is a Solana-based blockchain project that is investigating if a proof-of-work (PoW) token distribution mechanism is the best way to distribute its tokens. By integrating PoW’s safety features with Solana’s lightning-fast transaction times, the project is testing out new possibilities.
Especially during the memecoin craze, Ore’s activity has been a major source of network congestion on Solana since its inception, which has affected transaction scheduling and resulted in a high percentage of rejected transactions.
But engineers working on the Solana blockchain have published mainnet beta version 1.17.31 to fix the persistent network congestion.
Additional improvements will be available in version 1.18, but this patch does alleviate some of the persistent network congestion.
