Spotify Is Overrun By Songs Created By Artificial Intelligence

AI has progressed to the point that it can create original music as well as text, design, and code.

Spotify has deleted more than 10,000 tracks created using AI in an effort to curb the prevalence of “artificial streaming.”

Artificial intelligence has left its imprint in many fields, including the arts, design, programming, and literature. Spotify is now fighting fake streaming, a practice in which bots distort listener statistics.

Boomy was a platform that let users make generative music using AI technology; the Financial Times reports that Spotify removed more than 10,000 tracks from the platform. The platform implemented these safeguards to prevent fake streaming.

The leader in the music industry, Universal Music Group (UMG), alerted services like Spotify to potentially illegal streaming of Boomy songs.

UMG requested last month that Spotify delete AI-generated tracks that sampled their music without permission. This was done because AI has advanced to the point where it can create original music that mimics the styles of established bands.

The YouTube channel 20syl was mentioned by BeInCrypto for posting a video titled “AllttA – Savages,” in which the musicians include American rapper Jay-Z.

But instead of Jay-Z working with the artist, the developer’s employed AI to produce a voice that sounds very much like Jay-Z’s.
