Tezos Co-Founder Talks About Artificial Intelligence, Jstz, and the Mumbai Upgrade

Arthur and Kathleen Breitman, a husband and wife team, established Tezos, a decentralized blockchain platform, nearly a decade ago. However, the open-source blockchain network has made significant progress since then.

In Brussels during EthCC 7, Arthur Breitman discussed the recent Mumbai Upgrade, on-chain roll-ups, artificial intelligence, and scaling Tezos to achieve reduced transaction fees, customization, and scalability with CryptoNews.

In the beginning, Tezos was a monolithic blockchain that was similar to Bitcoin or Ethereum, but with some distinctions.

Tezos incorporates a governance mechanism that enables stakeholders to deliberate on and execute protocol enhancements without the necessity of hard divisions.

Tezos has undergone numerous upgrades over the years, and the most recent Mumbai upgrade was one of the most significant. This upgrade enables anyone to deploy Smart Rollups. Upgrades are typically named after significant cities worldwide.

Breitman stated that Tezos is prioritizing developer experience, which he deems to be of paramount importance. He then proceeded to elaborate that a significant portion of the development is conducted in a sub-language.

Additionally, Breitman asserts that AI will perform a significant portion of software development in the future.

Breitman is of the opinion that AI is more adept at programming languages for which it has a substantial corpus of data. For instance, AI is adept at composing Python or JavaScript when requested. However, AI will generate “COBOL” when compiled in a computer programming language similar to English; however, its performance will be subpar.

Breitman stated that AI can help developers write smart contracts more efficiently. In order for AI to function efficiently in the development of smart contracts, it is essential to employ mainstream programming languages.

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, expressed caution in a blog post earlier this year regarding the intersections between crypto and AI, cautioning readers to exercise caution.

In another update for Tezos X, a smart rollup that is fueled by JavaScript, the term “Jstz” is pronounced as “justice.” According to Tezos, Jstz is a forthcoming layer 2 rollup that is being developed on Tezos to enable developers to utilize JavaScript and its resources.

The language is being enabled by it; however, Jstz is distinguished by its compliance with conventional JavaScript APIs.
