Bitcoin (BTC) is the leading decentralized finance (DeFi) asset, and its price has increased by over 70% since the beginning of the year, setting a new record. The cryptocurrency sector as a whole is also expanding and maturing, with a growing number of users holding Bitcoin.

According to data from LookIntoBitcoin, a cryptocurrency monitoring tool, a Twitter user named Bitcoin Archive posted this information on April 9. This information indicates that the number of crypto wallets holding at least one Bitcoin has just set a new all-time high (ATH), reaching near to the number of 1 million holders.

At the same time, the total number of Bitcoin holders has increased at the quickest rate since early 2021, when the price of BTC surpassed $64,000 for the first time in its history, according to data and a chart shared on April 9 by the crypto analytics platform Santiment.

With a price that is present almost 55% lower than it was in January 2021, the chart shows that the total number of addresses holding any amount of Bitcoin has hit 46.16 million in the last few days. This trend is similar to what was seen from January 2021 through April 2021.

The platform’s staff speculated in a tweet that crypto traders would be “increasingly content in keeping their bags unmoved for the long term,” which might explain the increased pace at which users are ‘hodling’ the first digital asset in their wallets.

At press time, the price of Bitcoin was $28,319, representing an increase of 1.44% over the previous 24 hours and a gain of 0.29% over the previous week. This contributed to the coin’s cumulative monthly growth of 40.23% and year-to-date growth of 70%.

Notably, the Democrat presidential bid of environmental attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who previously warned about the possible dangers of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), could also boost Bitcoin adoption, as Bitcoin outperformed the top five major indexes in the first quarter of 2023.
