Major Outages Reported as Musk Investigates Platform Attack

Users reported encountering service outages, difficulties with login attempts, and other anomalous operational issues starting early this morning, around 5:30 a.m. Eastern Time.

Data from Downdetector, a service that aggregates user-submitted problem reports for online platforms, indicated a surge of over 40,000 outage reports at the peak of these disruptions.

These issues persisted through the morning hours, with further waves of reported outages occurring at roughly 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

X has experienced service interruptions on occasion in the past, notably including an incident during a livestream interview event featuring Donald Trump in August.

That particular interview, hosted by Musk himself, was notably impacted by significant technical malfunctions even prior to its scheduled commencement.

Subsequent investigation determined that the platform had been subjected to a substantial Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack.

This attack caused widespread service disruptions, effectively preventing a large segment of users from accessing the live broadcast.
