Musk receives outrage after changing X algorithm

James Li, an independent journalist, questioned Musk about the proposed modification, asking, “How does the algorithm determine ‘negativity’?”

After outlining planned adjustments to the X social media algorithm that will prioritize instructive or useful material above other kinds of content, Elon Musk has drawn a lot of criticism.

Musk claims that the proposed modifications are a reaction to “Too much negativity” on the social media platform. On January 3, the business owner posted on social media:

“We want as many unregretted user seconds as possible. There is too much negativity being spread, which theoretically increases user time but not regrettable user time.

Users on X questioned Musk about who the authority would have to decide what constituted “negativity” on the site and described the algorithm modification as a kind of censorship.

Following an online spat about immigration visas, Musk reportedly deleted premium services from many accounts, which preceded the impending shift.

Elon Musk’s suggestion that the United States should restructure the immigration system in order to draw in top talent from other nations caused a stir on X on December 27.

In reaction to the tweet, a number of conservative social media influencers openly attacked Musk, claiming that the US needed lower immigration rates and did not need ability. Right-wing influencers accused Musk of taking away their access to premium features and revenue after the heated dispute between the two sides.

Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of Ethereum, encouraged Musk to uphold the platform’s commitment to free speech and refrain from banning users for voicing their opinions or differences. The new spat between Musk and X users comes after Musk and the Brazilian government fought over censorship, which led to the X platform being banned in the South American nation.
