Gene Sperling, another former Ripple board member, previously departed the White House to become a member of Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign.

Multiple authors of a letter endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president include a key executive at Ripple, the company responsible for the XRP cryptocurrency.

On September 6, CNBC reported that Chris Larsen, Ripple’s co-founder and executive chairman, has signed a letter endorsing Harris for the position of president.

Report cited a letter signed by 88 business leaders in the US and named other well-known signatories, such as Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box, Jeremy Stoppelman, CEO of Yelp, Michael Lynton, chairman of Snap, and James Murdoch, former CEO of 21st Century Fox.

Gene Sperling, a former Ripple board member, departed the White House in early August to become a member of Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign.

As of the publication date, Ripple had not responded to Cointelegraph’s inquiry regarding the endorsement.

The announcement arrives shortly after Gene Sperling, a former Ripple board member, departed the White House in early August to become a member of Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign.

Sperling has been an economic adviser in the administrations of Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama since becoming a member of Ripple’s board in 2015. He has also served in President Joe Biden’s administration since 2021.

Sperling is not the sole adviser with a crypto background who has shifted his support to Harris’ campaign. In addition, Politico reported on August 2 that David Plouffe, a former adviser to Binance and the crypto payments provider Alchemy Pay, has joined Harris‘ presidential campaign.

Numerous analysts have predicted that the United States presidential election in November will have a substantial impact on the cryptocurrency sector.

Although the potential impact of the election on the crypto market is not yet known, the crypto industry has clearly been a critical instrument for presidential candidates during the ongoing campaign.

A spokesperson for the Harris campaign informed Cointelegraph on August 5 that the Future Forward political action committee could facilitate campaign donations in cryptocurrency for the candidate. Donald Trump, the former President of the United States and current presidential candidate, has consistently expressed his support for cryptocurrency, pledging to “make America the world capital of Bitcoin and crypto.”
