When an anonymous member of the Cardano (ADA) community submitted an “open letter” to Charles Hoskinson on social media, harshly condemning him for his public opinions, the creator of the Cardano network has chosen to answer these allegations.

Particularly, Hoskinson reacted to a February 27 post by the Reddit user demesisx, who accused Hoskinson of engaging with “alt-right hate group celebrities like Jordan Peterson and Elon Musk.”

The user also accused Hoskinson of “the dictatorial and dishonest manner in which contingent staking is being imposed upon us” and claimed that “many of us feel that you are enthusiastically dragging [the Cardano] brand into association with hatred, bigotry, and partisanship” and that they are “growingly embarrassed by our associations with the alt-right.”

The user concluded by stating that this group of dissatisfied community members was “READY to split the wonderful, elegant tech stack that Cardano sits on and launch an entirely new cryptocurrency with Bitcoin’s decentralized ideals fundamentally safeguarded.”

The inventor of Cardano attacked the letter’s inclusion of “the ideology of random individuals like Jordan Peterson and Elon Musk, who have virtually nothing to do with Cardano, and it’s so serious that we’re prepared to fork the protocol.”

As he emphasized: Left-wing or right-wing, “the great majority of people don’t care at all about the cultural war,” defending Peterson as “simply hypersensitive about the usage of words.”

According to him, Peterson “began to notice that some individuals were altering their language, and he was extremely uneasy about it because they stated, ‘if you don’t get along with language, there is now a criminal component,’ and this upset him.

About Musk, he described him as an “extremely strong individual” who “has a significant amount of influence and (…) is in a position where he can dominate the discourse of hundreds of millions of people, which is important to our business,” adding:

“Let’s be clear: it is not alt-right to suggest that Covid probably escaped from a lab, or at the very least that this idea should be studied alongside the natural origin. (…) It is not alt-right to point out that China has concentration camps containing millions of people and that society should take action.”
