The Japanese game firm Konami is seeking Web3 growth

Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd., a video game firm headquartered in Tokyo, has announced the creation of 13 new posts to combine its game titles with Web3 and metaverse technology.

Konami said in a press statement that it intends to offer a service that enables gamers to exchange non-fungible token (NFT) objects on a blockchain-based distribution network.

The newly available opportunities include designer, system engineer, programmer, project manager, and intellectual property positions.

In addition to Konami, big Japanese game developers such as Square Enix and Sega have incorporated Web3 technology into their games and intellectual property this year.

Many conventional gamers have expressed their criticism of these plans, stating that game makers may overlook the creation of true video games in favour of Web3 growth.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida declared in a policy address earlier this month that Japan would increase its investments in NFTs and the metaverse.

With a market valuation of over 950 billion Japanese yen ($6.3 billion), Konami has generated worldwide successes including the Silent Hill series, the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise and the series Winning Eleven.
