Gaming powerhouse Ubisoft is set to introduce its celebrated Might & Magic universe to the Ethereum blockchain through a new card game developed in partnership with Immutable.

The upcoming title, Might & Magic: Fates, is scheduled for release later this year.

‘Might & Magic: Fates’—A’ Mobile Strategy Card Game

This new venture, a free-to-play card strategy game crafted for iOS and Android devices, results from a collaboration between Ubisoft and blockchain specialist Immutable.

Players will have the opportunity to amass and exchange digital cards depicting heroes and creatures integral to the long-established Might & Magic series.

Might & Magic: Fates will offer strategic depth, allowing players to engage with faction-specific game mechanics to tailor their gameplay approach, according to the official announcement.

Expanding a Legacy Franchise

Nicolas Pouard, overseeing Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab as Vice President, commented on the project’s ambition:

“As one of the most iconic franchises in strategy gaming, Might & Magic has a rich legacy that we’re thrilled to expand upon.”

He emphasized the aim to create a compelling game for both veteran fans and newcomers while preserving the series’ core appeal.

Ubisoft’s Ongoing Commitment to Blockchain

For years, Ubisoft (known for major franchises such as Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry) has demonstrated significant engagement within the blockchain domain.

The company launched Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles and Captain Laserhawk:

The G.A.M.E. near the end of 2024, adding to a history of investments, joint ventures, and pilot projects in the Web3 space, positioning it as one of the most forward traditional publishers in this arena.

The initial plans for this collaborative effort between Immutable and Ubisoft were first shared in November 2023.

Immutable’s Role and Platform Technology

Immutable provides the underlying technology for the game via its Ethereum-focused gaming platform.

This platform currently utilizes two scaling solutions, Immutable X and Immutable zkEVM, although Immutable recently indicated plans to integrate the former into the latter, more technologically advanced network.

Immutable is also the entity behind the popular NFT card game Gods Unchained.

Market Impact on Immutable’s Token (IMX)

In related market activity, Immutable’s native token, IMX, has experienced a substantial price surge, increasing by 48% over the past week to reach nearly $0.60, according to CoinGecko data.

This rally has propelled the token back into the top 100 cryptocurrencies ranked by market capitalization, a position it had relinquished earlier in the month.
