Cardano’s Founder Discusses Network Rollup

Charles Hoskinson, co-creator of Cardano and its rollups feature, presents an interesting update.

A Twitter user noticed that Cardano’s creator had mentioned rollups or a rollup approach in two separate YouTube broadcasts this year, and inquired as to which project he was referring to in both instances.

He also said that the rollout is happening quickly, with Midnight expected to be the launch customer. “It’s necessary for the sidechains project. We’re putting this into effect as quickly as possible. Midnight will be the first user,” Hoskinson said.

By combining private and public computing with zero-knowledge cryptography (ZK proofs), Midnight will provide a trustless environment for the secure and compliant storage of private and commercial information.

Cardano has made strides in developing Layer 2 solutions, especially sidechains and off-chain solutions (like ZK rollups), which function independently of the main blockchain.

IOG’s EVM sidechain became life on the public testnet in February, enabling users to test and install decentralised applications (dApps), construct smart contracts, and exchange tokens across chains.

Developers may create Solidity smart contracts, decentralized applications, and ERC20 tokens on Cardano test environments thanks to the testnet’s compatibility with Ethereum’s tools and libraries.

IOG released a toolset for creating unique sidechains at the beginning of the year, enabling developers to create blockchains for specific use cases.
