Skechers Establishes a Location in the Metaverse

Skechers, the global shoe brand, is on track to open an immersive shop in Decentraland’s Fashion Street Estate. Skechers has leased the equivalent of a 5,000-square-foot site on Metaverse Group’s virtual property in order to create an immersive shop in the Decentraland Metaverse’s Fashion Street Estate.

Skechers, the third-largest athletic footwear company in the world with headquarters in Southern California, has filed trademark applications to sell virtual things like as footwear and clothing, setting the framework for new Metaverse development opportunities.

Skechers has submitted eight trademark applications to far, the most recent being last month for its Sketchers, Bobs, GoWalk, ArchWalk, and Twinkle Toes trademarks. Other well-known sporting brands that have submitted trademark applications for virtual products include Under Armour, Puma, and New Balance.

Nike is another footwear brand that comes to mind when discussing virtual products and retail stores, since the company has filed further trademark applications for Nike and Nikeland.

Since Facebook changed its name to Meta, much has been said about the Metaverse—spaces where virtual reality and gaming intersect. Metaverse is a critical component of Web3, the next generation of the Internet that places a premium on user ownership of data and digital assets, and it has attracted the interest of some of the world’s largest corporations.
